NEW GENERATION P.F.C. CAPACITORS The Electronicon MKPg gas filled capacitors are out performing the old oil and resin filled capacitors. These new generation units are possibly the only capacitors being marketed in Southern Africa, which are genuinely approved by CSA (Canada) and UL (U.S.A.) Generally other makes only conform to various standards and in most cases a “VDE Surveillance Mark” is referred to. Note this is not an Approval Mark. Most, if not all capacitors, are in house tested to IEC 60831-1 and 2, and VDE 0560-46 and 47 as recommended by VDE. The new generation 400 volt cylindrical units are manufactured to the highest standards, which is a “D” rated temperature class (-25⁰C to +55⁰C) and can be subjected to a permanent over-voltage of 440 volts. The 8 hours/day rating is 480 volt (+20%), which is normally only 10% in other makes. These new technology capacitors are also fitted with the standard “Break-Action” safety mechanism.
